Sonic Solace #3 : Auditory Alchemy / Soundwalk
September 27 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Auditory Alchemy is created to guide participants through a series of sonic experiences and meditative prompts that will lead them to reflect on different layers of self and environment sounding and listening in an urban context. Participants will engage in exercises that encourage awareness of their inner and outer selves, exploring personal, cultural and collective auditory experiences.
Facilitated and conceptualized by tracy september and Siavash Namehshiri, the city of zurich is used as a canvas to paint an auditory environment through short recordings that will be used for a collective listening.
Please note that this soundwalk requires an audio recorder and headphones. If you have one, please bring it with you. If you would like to participate but do not have the equipment, please email us at info@migrart. We will provide a limited number of the necessary equipment.
- Siavash Namehshiri / @siavash.namehshiri is a Kurdish Composer, musician, collaborative Sonic proposer from Iran, based in Zurich. over the years, he has been exploring improvisation and contemporary electronic music. Over the years, he has engaged in collaborative projects and experimented with different art contexts in studio and live performances and studied Electroacoustic Composition at Art University in Zürich. Through his sonic creations, Siavash channels his memorial experiences using music and sound to express and process specific moments of displacement in his works. Siavash maintains a keen interest in the intersectional dimensions of sound and collaborative practices.
- tracy september is a South African musician, performer, DJ and music researcher based in Zürich, Switzerland. With influences of jazz, traditional Xhosa singing and electronic experimentation, tracy works around themes of memory, spirit and protest, with a particular passion for improvisation. For tracy improvisation is a way to surrender attachment to ideas and trust the capacity of one’s intuition. It is an invitation to let go. tracy uses her voice, electronics, texts, archive materials and field recordings, to tell stories that are deeply rooted in ritual, community and communion. Ritual as a transformative tool; community as the foundation for the co-creation of existence; and communion as a means for intimate fellowship.
